Health Insurance
Let's try to stick to the facts. Everyone needs
medical care. And wellness programs have proven they pay for themselves in reduced long term costs. If
everyone should have something basic, then it should be paid for by a national tax. I believe everyone
needs basic catastrophic health insurance for times when thousands
of dollars in costs happen. I also think everyone should have a basic
physical every year, including mammograms and colonoscopies when
appropriate. (I also think everyone should have their teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a
year and probably major dental, but I admit I have no idea how to
pay for it...).
In between wellness and catastrophic health
insurance are the things that normally happen. We get sick, we're in minor accidents, etc. Everyone
could still buy their own
personal health insurance for these things, but the cost should be much lower, because the basic wellness and catastrophic costs are
removed.
